Athenaeum of Philadelphia Young Friends
Those 35 and under are eligible to join The Athenaeum of Philadelphia at the reduced-cost Young Friends tier. Athenaeum membership includes use of our gorgeous 19th century reading room, borrowing privileges from our collection of general-interest books, and access to dozens of courses and events each season. Additionally, those 35 and under are invited to regular Young Friends gatherings. Past and ongoing Young Friends events include book clubs, Opera Philadelphia performances, a reading party at the Bok Building, tours of local museums and architectural sites, and more. An excellent way to meet interesting, engaged folks across the professional, academic, and creative spectrum.
Established in 1814, The Athenaeum of Philadelphia nurtures curiosity in members and neighbors, strengthening community through learning and discourse. We're open six days a week on beautiful Washington Square.
Who Should Join
Adults 18 - 35 who enjoy culture and conversation! While all are welcome, most Athenaeum Young Friends have an interest in books & film, Philadelphia culture & history, and architecture & the built environment.
Best Way To Join
Athenaeum Young Friends must register for membership to be eligible to attend events. Prospective members are invited to drop in during opening hours for an introduction to the library.
